Junior and Youth section update

In the Mirror Northern Championships five Beaver Mirrors featured in the top ten. Team Grayson dominated the top of the table with a first (Ed), second (Reg and George Stainforth) and third (Em and Ben Settle). Tom Dean came sixth, with dad Rob, first single hander 8th. George Richards and Alexander Baird, the youngest pairing, coming fifteenth. So congratulations to all of you.

In the RYA Youth Nationals, within the Laser Standard fleet Henry Wetherell came a solid second overall, but Oliver Grove posted a great ninth overall, winning a race. When I spoke with him on Sunday he was really pleased.

In the Laser Radial, Jack Hanslope was the highest placed, 45th in the Gold Fleet. Ellie Brown 7th in the Silver Fleet; Chris White 22nd, in the Silver Fleet and Harry Stainforth 25th, in the Silver Fleet. A fantastic showing for all concerned, so well done.

So for all you beginners training starts on this Saturday 13th April 2013 and maybe you could be racing at the club later this year, looking towards open competitions further afield later.

Security/Access

We have today had a good day’s racing using the new clubhouse.

Due to the successful security arrangements during the build process the club are continuing with the 24 hr offsite security monitoring. The new cameras are now operational and members should be aware of this if visiting outside normal hours. Any security issues please contact Neil White or Martin Penty (contact details in last year’s and this year’s year book.

New Season Starts Sunday 3 March

The first weekend of the season is upon us!

As the new clubhouse floor has not been surfaced yet, the builders containers will be used as temporary changing rooms and no “wet feet” should enter the clubhouse. The building company has also requested that no vehicles are allowed in the dinghy compound, for the time being, to allow the ground to consolidate.

Work on Clubhouse

A BIG BIG thank you to everyone who has been helping out at the club, concreting and painting. We still need all the help we can get, particularly Thursday (21 Feb) when there is more concrete to be laid. So if you can get down at 10.00 am for the concreting, that would be much appreciated. We also still need further painting work completing, so please come down when you can to lend a hand.

Sunday Racing

Don’t forget, the racing season starts again, as usual, on the first Sunday of March, which this year is Sunday, 3 March. The clubhouse management committee will be providing the usual drinks and snacks for sale from that date.
